Where To Buy Blank Wood Rounds
Amazon has a 12 pack of the 12″ wood rounds for $20.99. You can also get the larger 18″ wood rounds on Amazon. This is the size that most people sell on Etsy. Home Depot carries wood rounds also.
Step by Step Tutorial: How To Make A Wood Round Door Sign
Step 1: Sand your wood.
Step 2: Stain your wood on both sides. I use Varathane Premium Fast Dry Wood Stain with a 2″ square piece of a microfiber towel. The microfiber towels work amazing for spreading the stain, better than rags or foam brushes. Golden pecan and weathered gray are very popular stain colors. White chalk paint is also frequently used to add contrasting colors to your sign. Many people will use painters tape to section off half the sign and paint it. For example, golden pecan stain on top half of the sign and white chalk paint on the bottom.
Step 3: Seal your stained project with Helmsman Spar Urethane and a chip brush. A little bit goes a long way! Wipe away any drips on the sides.
Step 4: Screw in the mounting hardware on the back. I use 2 d-hooks about 3″ in from the sides near the top.
Step 5: Add your vinyl decal or stencil and paint.
Step 6: Add any embellishments like ribbon, flowers, or bows. You can attach decorative ribbon to the d-hooks on the back.
